Apprentice Scaffolder
Job description
Purpose of role:
To work under the direction and guidance of an experienced supervisor on a range of new and existing buildings.
The job holder will work towards and be expected to achieve a Level 2 qualification in Scaffolding
Key Accountabilities may include:
• Learn the process of understanding drawings and work in accordance with customer requirements.
• Loading and unloading vehicles using correct manual handling methods
• Learn the process of inspecting and tagging scaffolding to ensure it is safe
• Assembling and dismantling a range of different scaffold types to include supported independent, cantilever and mobile platforms.
• Fixing guards rails and safety netting where appropriate
• Ensuring safety measures are put in place to protect other trades and/or members of the public
• Learn the process of inspecting and tagging scaffolding to ensure it is safe
• Attend College on a block release basis, and undertake any additional training as requested
• Take part in the apprentice review process
• Follow Health & Safety policy and procedures, including the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the use of harnesses for working at height
• Use all tools, equipment and materials safely
• Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers and managers

• Can understand and follow instructions
• Physically fit as there is heavy lifting/handling of materials
• Can work as part of a team
• Good knowledge of English and communication skills
• Good understanding of maths
• Good understanding of and willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
• Can pay close attention to detail
• Can be flexible in work activities, locations and hours of work
• Ability to work in external environments and work at height
