Yard Operative

Assisting with the loading and offloading of vehicles whilst adhering to stock control procedures. Organising materials in a manner which will ensure operational efficiency, customer service, safety and security.

• Ensuring that all stock movements are accurately and correctly documented
• Ensuring that all stock/equipment is serviced/maintained and painted in accordance with company policy and procedures.
• Ensuring that all deliveries and collections are correctly checked and inspected including segregation of non-conforming equipment
• Assisting with stock takes as instructed by management
• Awareness of safety policies/procedures with emphasis on machinery in the work place and operation of the fork lift trucks
• Maintaining the security of company equipment within the yard
• Ensuring that equipment is stacked and stored in a safe manner in accordance with company procedures
• Safe loading/unloading of vehicles/demountable beds
• Ensuring that working area is maintained in a clean and tidy manner
• Ensuring all tools and equipment used are stored safely (including chemicals used)
• Reporting any hazards which may be present within the work environment
• Complying fully with all information, instruction and training received.
• Forklift drivers only – checking each truck before use to ensure the daily check has been done and carrying out and recording such checks when necessary.
