To provide support to the scaffolders and Charge Hand when on site and to provide general assistance in the yard including keeping the yard clean and tidy and loading and unloading of vehicles.
Responsibilities
The role of Labourer/Yard Operative is one of general labouring and the employee should be capable of carrying out all labouring tasks connected to the loading, delivery, erection and dismantle of scaffolding
When on site they should be able to work within a gang providing labouring support for qualified scaffolders or more experienced trainees. Labourers should not under any circumstances work on incomplete scaffolds until they have received appropriate work at height training and their duties should be restricted as such by Management and Charge Hands.
When in the yard labourers should be capable of general assistance in the loading/unloading and maintenance of scaffolding equipment and materials. They should not under any circumstances operate plant or machinery unless receiving the specific training to do so.
Typical day
Lots of physical work is guaranteed and will involve supporting the scaffolders with any of the responsibilities described above.

No formal qualifications are required but NASC members would expect the COTS qualification as a minimum.
