CAD (Structural) Engineer

Role

Responsible for producing CAD scaffold design drawings and all of the calculations that go with it, providing scaffolding and temporary works design schemes through quality technical drawings using required programmes (AutoCAD and Revit).

Responsibilities

  • AutoCAD skills are essential, as well as good general IT skills.
  • Relevant experience of construction design that includes access scaffolding, temporary works and scaffold design.
  • Ability to read and fully understand engineering plans and section details.
  • Ability to understand and produce variety of scaffold designs based on client requirements.

Typical day

Liaising with clients and the design engineer to ensure accurate and timely completion of technical drawings. Occasional site surveys may be required dependent on experience and the scope of the role within the company.

  • Good general IT skills with excellent knowledge of Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Creative, disciplined and organised with good communication abilities to ensure that ideas are executed efficiently and to ensure compliance. Patient, methodical with an aptitude for technology and the ability to adapt to new techniques, methodologies and computer programs.

Expected salary

Dependent upon the responsibilities within the role and its location, salaries can vary widely from £30,000 up to £65,000.

Qualifications required

A level in Maths / Science or HNC / HND in CAD or Construction related subject (or equivalent qualifications). Technical drawing experience with demonstrable abilities in producing construction drawings to the highest standard. Full working knowledge and experience using Autodesk AutoCAD software package (Full, LT, Civil) and Revit. 3D drawing and/or BIM working and development capabilities Knowledge of the main requirements of Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations 2015. Knowledge of the main requirements of The Work at Height Regulations (WAHR) 2005. Knowledge of relevant British and European Standards: BS 8888, BS EN 12811-1, BS 5975. Construction related industry experience, either site or office based. Practical knowledge of scaffolding and temporary works.
