Yard Manager / Yard Supervisor / Yard Foreman
Role
The Yard Manager is a crucial role for a scaffolding firm. They are responsible for the overall organisation and efficiency of the yard and are therefore vital in embedding a culture of Health & Safety and Quality. The Yard Manager ensures the yard is clean, safe and compliant and will often double as a stock controller.
Responsibilities
- Checking loads for weights and the accuracy of loads against loading tickets, and ensuring only serviced and painted equipment has been loaded.
- Yard stock checks and counts of materials ready for use.
- Liaising with transport organisers concerning the supplying of materials and collection of materials from depot to depot.
- Carry out and ensure yard timesheets are correctly completed.
- Keep a check on yard personnel and any disciplinary matters.
- Calling in skip companies for rubbish and scrap collection.
- Ensuring ramping machines and forklifts are running safely.
- Loading/unloading lorries to daily requirements.
- Report all Accidents/Incidents/Near Misses/Complaints to H&S Department and Line Manager immediately.

Expected salary
£25,000 but can be as high as £34,000.
Qualifications required
Forklift Truck Driver (FLT) licence is invaluable. Experience within scaffolding is beneficial although extensive experience within builders’ merchants and management of a warehouse can suffice.
